However, he came up with the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer. If, like me, you agree that the first two Paddington films are among the best films ever made, this will be a pleasant foundation, but also a disappointment.
This is just another jungle adventure movie…but with a bear
Because it isn’t about Paddington adjusting to life with a family in London or how an ordinary family adjusts to living with a bear, it loses its original charm and certainly its humor. It has a different feel to it – more sentimental and obviously not as funny.
I could say we need more Browns and their neighbors
While the first two were funny to a poor old Marx Brothers fan like me, this one is definitely more of a family movie, clearly aimed at kids. we could also say we need Sally Hawkins, but what’s the point?
More family routine for cheerful quirky cuteness
We had all that in the first two and since they were… dare I say, perfect, there was no point in trying to copy them. So yes, this is different, it’s terribly sentimental at times and not as funny, but it’s still Paddington.
