Minervini had the set built in Montana and then let the cast live on it for two months
Line of Events
In the winter of 1862, during the Civil War, the US Army sends a company of volunteers to patrol the uncharted territories of the West. The dialogues and thoughts expressed are what the actors came up with while living in the wilderness imagining they were soldiers in the Civil War.
“Roberto Minervini’s New Movie” Who?
Not that anyone has heard of him or seen his other boring movies. Even though the civil war was fought between the North and the South, for some very stupid reasons, some Northern soldiers are sent to the West to “discover uncharted territories” because apparently the North has soldiers to spare to do something absolutely unnecessary to the war effort.
Like: “Have you ever shot anyone?” "Yes, a rabbit" Really deep and philosophical
Throughout the entire boring movies, these soldiers just wander around, make camp, and say a bunch of boring nonsense. Duh.
Nothing else happens
These “soldiers” never behave like real soldiers did during the civil war and at no point do they talk like them. For some perspective, I recommend Ken Burns’ great documentary.
Or just watch any spaghetti western from the 70s
Even “Django Vs Space-Zombies” is more realistic (and also much more entertaining) than this garbage.
